The attack of Typhoon Ondoy in the country especially in Metro Manila taught a lot of Manilenyos an important lesson in terms of choosing the location of our investments, stocking some food for emergency, staying at home to look after your properties and your family’s safety and much more. Since I came from a city where typhoon strikes at least twice a year, I can say that I am already used to this scenario and up to this day, I am still amused on how my fellow Pangasinense can cope up with such unfortunate events (will write more about this on my upcoming blog post).

Since I am working for an entertainment tabloid, I am updated with what some of our favorite local celebrities did in order to help in rescuing our kababayans who are seeking for help.
The person whom I truly admired during the Typhoon Ondoy relief operations is Angel Locsin. We all know that Angel had been active with such activities ever since she was still the reigning queen of the other station. This time, she initiated her own relief operations in different places including Payatas. She also asked some of her friends from the Kapamilya station like Zanjoe Marudo, Shaina Magdayao, Serene Dalrymple and Maricar Reyes to help her out distribute goods and work on the clean up drive. Truly, Angel is a real-life superhero.

Jericho Rosales, who once played the legendary Pinoy hero Panday on TV was able to show help a number of neighbors with his surfing board this time. In my other blog, I posted some pictures and information on how he surfed for a cause. Komiks presents Tiagong Akyat star Gerald Anderson was caught climbing in the walls in an exclusive village in Quezon City not as someone who is stealing money from the rich, but to help those who are in need.
The article Typhoon Spurs ‘bayanihan’ states that a number of Kapamilya celebrities including Piolo Pascual, Kim Chiu, Valerie Concepcion, Jake Cuenca, Nyoy Volante, RR Enriquez, Yeng Constantino among others took pledges from donors. This is a good start for Sagip Kapamilya wherein they are getting influential celebrities to help out do something for a cause. Some of them were actively twitting with the list of donation stops and emergency hotlines.
As I write this entry, Bagyong Pepeng is in Pangasinan and La Union and according to my Plurk friends from Pangasinan, almost 60% of Pangasinan is flooded. I am hoping that Sagip Kapamilya will help in the rescue operations. Help my lovable province survive. I recently added the LopezLink FaceBook page to keep me updated with their activities.

What can you say about the celebrities who helped in the Bagyong Ondoy relief operations? Were you able to volunteer as well?
Supper Heroes. Anyone can be a hero, but not everyone can be a stars. It is great to know that heroes like them are always there when needed.
