For the first time, the Philippines’ Queen of Bossa Nova Sitti Navarro and the Queen of Acoustic Pop Juris Fernandez joined forces for a very special pre-Valentine show at Metrobar West Avenue last Wednesday, February 10.
I originally planned to watch the said show with my high school buddies. Unfortunately, all of them backed out the last minute due to the stress they earned from work that day (boo!). Since I don’t want to waste the complimentary tickets I got from my Pinoy Parazzi family, I tried my luck inviting some of my blogger friends. Hannah, Vince and Carl immediately said yes to my impromptu invitation yey π
We arrived at around 10:00pm and we found Sitti performing her hits onstage already. It is my first time to see her perform live and I can attest to the testimonials of her fans that her charm really works when she’s onstage. She can make anyone dance with her voice and movements. She can make you smile with her happy songs and make you wonder with the heartbreaking ones. I am happy that she sang I Didn’t Know I Was Looking for Love and Para sa Akin π Too bad I forgot to take pics during her set. Boo unto me!
Juris Fernandez is next! I think this is one of her first gigs as a solo artist (yes guys, she’s no longer MYMP’s lead singer). I’ve been a fan of MYMP’s music and of course, the voice of Juris. I remember two friends gave me a CD during my debut and i ended up memorizing all their renditions and eventually sang them on karaoke sessions. Juris sang mostly heartbreaking songs and even her first single as a soloista is full of regret π I enjoyed her set though as she tried to make the audience laugh.
Just when everyone thought that the show’s over, Sitti went back onstage and sang with her friend, Juris! They were unlikely sweet that night and even held hands while singing. Sitti reminded the audience that there was once a funny rumor that circulated around ASAP (where they are a part of ASAP Sessionistas) that the two had a relationship. They kept on staring on each other’s eyes to tease the audience LOL. The two sang Power of Two, When You Say Nothing at All and I forgot the last one T_T
So how was it? The two girls gave a good show. Too bad I wasn’t seated in a good location (the venue is surprisingly jam-packed with people!), but at least i saw them perform. I would like to see Princess Velasco and Sabrina on the next show. What do you think? π
Sitti has her moments but she is awesome onstage! π Lucky you!
