Lazy Sunday afternoon in Cebu

It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon here in Cebu City. I woke up a bit early because of the breakfast call and went back to bed after checking my online accounts. Blame it on my current accommodation for making me feel lazy today.

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon in Cebu

I am seated right now in an outdoor coffee shop here somewhere in Ayala Cebu waiting for my friends to come. I visit Cebu at least twice or thrice a year and the funny thing there is I often go here not for the beaches and other adventurous activities outside the city proper, but because of the friends I met here. I am willing to book roundtrip tickets just to go here.

A group of twenty-something yuppies passed by while I was typing the previous paragraph. I just realized that in the span of three years, a number of Cebuano friends left the city either to work abroad or pursue a backpacking trip. Way back, they’d make effort to see me and catch up even if they’re busy with work or other errands. I consider one as a bestfriend since he saved my life a few years ago. Or my sanity at least.

I love the ambiance here in Ayala Mall Cebu. There may be a number of people coming in and out of the mall, but it is not as chaotic or intimidating as the other shopping malls in Metro Manila.

I blame the rain on why all of a sudden, I am feeling sentimental. This may be my last Cebu trip for a long time and since last night, I’ve encountered a lot of ‘reminders’ on why I love this city – and why I should love it more. I am not a Cebuana and I can’t even speak minimal bisaya, but I feel at home here. I have a number of happy times spent here and also experienced a number of unlikeable pain. I also ate a lot of food and I will pig out again tonight!

They’re here now. Must stop, sentimental fool. Time to end this post.
