How Jade Lopez surprised me!

It is no secret that I am a fan of Jade Lopez during her Starstruck days. I can say that Starstruck helped me in a good way in terms of diverting my energy and attention to it. As a high school student, I experienced a number of ups and downs in terms of my personal and academic life. Watching these fourteen teenagers outshine each other became a good outlet for me. You can also blame the show on why I became addicted to online forums and eventually, blogs.

It is also no secret that among her female batch mates, Jade Lopez is rarely seen or heard on the previous years. Jennylyn Mercado won, had a baby and bounced back in the scene with flying colors. Yasmien Kurdi starred in a number of teleseryes as lead actress before she pursued her dream to study a medical course. Nadine Samonte is still there and starting anew with TV5, Katrina Halili gone through a lot and is currently stuck in kontrabida roles, Sheena Halili is consistent on being Kapuso’s favorite sidekick and Cristine Reyes is one of the most popular female stars of ABS-CBN and Viva Entertainment.

So what happened to Jade Lopez? She decided to push through with her studies in San Beda, where she took up BS Psychology and graduated last year. She would still appear on a number of TV shows, but she never really got her big break in showbiz. I believe in her capabilities as an actress that’s why I am pleased that she agreed to play the role of Eloisa in my short film entitled The 12th of June, which we shot in July 2009.

Danielle and Jade

Danielle and Jade - Viva's Newest Gems

A few days ago, I received an unexpected text message from her informing me that she is FHM Philippines’ cover girl for February 2012. I called her immediately and she kept on giggling with my OA reaction. You see, most of the Starstruck graduates got noticed when they agreed to pose for the leading men’s magazine. There’s Katrina Halili, Cristine Reyes, Iwa Moto, Jennylyn Mercado, LJ Reyes, Jackie Rice, Rich Asuncion and Stef Prescott.

Is it late for Jade Lopez to finally come out with a sexier and braver image? I don’t think so. We’ve seen her contemporaries deal with scandals and rumors in the papers on the previous years and maybe some of us are sick of reading their names over and over again. Maybe THIS is Jade’s right time. I hope so. I am betting on that.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the pictorial. She is joined by Danielle Castano (Miss World 2008). Both of them signed up under Viva last year and this is their first brave move. I read in a forum that some FHM collectors have their copies already. I tried to search for a copy at Mini Stop, 7-11 and Fully Booked for two consecutive days with no luck. Finally, I saw a copy yesterday in Booksale VMall and viola! More surprises up next!

Jade and Danielle

#ThatAwkwardMoment when you saw the final photo of this layout πŸ˜‰

It is not my first time to buy a copy of FHM (the last one is the epic September 2011 issue with Lovi Poe and the elephant on it), but it feels a bit different if you know the person modeling these sexy photos. The setting is in an abandoned place and the two girls are having some fun as the song ‘Alejandro’ plays at the background. Jade and Danielle are both hot in their duo pictures and I almost fell from my chair when I saw this one pic. Sorry if I am thinking of girl-to-girl scenes in my head πŸ˜› I stopped at Jade’s solo interview and kept on laughing with the writer’s description on Jade’s non-showbiz boyfriend, who is a self-confessed FHM fan. They’ve been together for quite a long time now and I have nothing but good words to the guy. You rock, tsong! πŸ˜›

So I read the article where Jade answered the questions truthfully. I smiled upon reading the part where she mentioned the short film we did (The 12th of June). Iba pala ang pakiramdam kapag sa FHM naisulat mismo. I think apart from the very dark and sexy pictures, that part of the interview is her big surprise. Na-touch naman ako ng bonging-bongga, teh!

Now that she is back in the scene with a sexier image, I am still hoping that Viva will give her meaty roles – I don’t mean exposing more flesh, ok? I want to see her portray roles where she can show her acting prowess. Wait… There’s this photo of hers in the magazine where she looked like Tata Young πŸ˜€

I bet I am not the only one who was in the state of shock upon seeing her FHM pictures. I am hoping that this is a start of something new for Jade Lopez. Rediscover Dream , Believe, Survive! πŸ˜€

Special thanks to FHM.COM.PH for the behind-the-scene photos. Get a copy na!
