Deadlines

Deadlines. Dead lines.Don’t you just love beating deadlines? It is the timeframe you impose to yourself on how long a specific task must be completed. I remember asking my teachers to extend the deadline of our projects and assignments way back in high school. We were trained to submit everything on the dot or else we will be suffering the consequences.

You Have a Deadline to Beat. Stop Plurking!

You Have a Deadline to Beat. Stop Plurking!

As a student, I always thought that i’ll be able to escape from this deadline thing once I step out of school, but no. On my first home-based job as a virtual assistant, I was trained by my superiors to finish all my tasks (including daily reports) on a certain time. We rarely had extentions. I thought I could bum around as a work-at-home lady, but no. Thinking about a certain deadline before sleeping and being reminded asap when you wake up is somewhat similar to a nightmare especially if you find your task uninteresting.

Working as a web marketing specialist-slash-PR girl in one of the most talked about tourist spot in the country is full of deadlines too. The HR department even implemented a strict attendance rule so we have to be in the office at 9AM. If you punch-in at 9:01PM, you are considered late. My tasks for the week is already planned ahead with the corresponding deadline on the side.

If you are working for a publishing company, dealing with a deadline is a part of the daily routine already especially if you’re in the editorial team. You have to write a certain number of articles and proofread the entries written by others. Handling the website requires you to be up and awake at midnight.

I currently have a lot of back logs here at my blog mainly about my trip to Cebu and La Union. I dunno why I ended up writing a blog entry about this LOL

In film making, you need to at least prepare a time table or a gantt chart of some sorts so you can finish your task at a certain day. I realized that just now. The beauty of deadline is that it reminds you of your goals and objectives on why are you doing a certain thing. Why do you have to submit this art project in school? Why do you have to pass the news article before 5pm? Why do producers need to allocate a time for pre-production, production and post-production? We all know that the answer leads to something very productive and will later on make you fulfilled because you were able to finish something at a specific time frame.

Do you have a deadline to beat? Mind to share it?
