Farewell to you, Geocities

Ten years ago, my cousin opened my eyes in the world of internet. I remember having SpiceGirls.com as the first website that I ever went to. Later on, I learned that I can search for pictures and information via search engines like Yahoo, MSN, Altavista among others. I am truly amazed on how a scanner works. I even compared it into a xerox machine only that the printout will be in the monitor. As a big fan of the Spice Girls, I wanted to make my own fansite for them.

The problem is, I don’t have enough money for the hosting and I am completely clueless on how to buy domains and how to find a good host. Thank God there were free webhosting places around like AngelFire and Tripod. What annoyed me was the pop-up ads. I needed to look for a better host and tenen… GEOCITIES came in the picture!

Reality Wedding by Buddy Gancenia

I remember the first time I met Buddy Gancenia, a famous Filipino wedding videographer during his short lecture on video editing at Discovery Suites. He showed to us some of his sample works and my, I am really impressed! I even joked around that if ever I’ll get married with my prince charming someday, I want him to do the memorable event.

I got the chance to work with him early this year for my first ever short film. I know that he is best known by his clients and by bloggers because of his wedding videography works, but I can say that he can soon venture into other means of video coverage. Sir Buddy is also easy to work with – he is quiet but he is also strict. He can perfectly embody a professional wedding videographer – I swear!

Sandbox: The newest local social networking portal for Pinoys!

Last week, a number of bloggers blogged about the new social networking site called Sandbox. It was also featured on a Sunday variety show and the official tv commercial of the said website was also publicly shown.

So what is Sandbox? It is a Philippine-based web portal that has the similar services like friendster but with online store. Months ago, a number of individuals were invited to be among the beta testers and since that they, groups and communities were formed by members with different interests. Isn’t that cool?
