The Metro Manila Film Festival is a yearly event for moviegoers. It is the time of the year wherein families and friends get to bond while watching Filipino movies in the cinemas. For the whole week, only Filipino films that were chosen by the organizers of the said festival will be shown in all theaters in Metro Manila and in some provinces.
One of the entries this year that really caught my attention is Regal Films’ Yesterday Today  Tomorrow. Under the direction of Jun Lana, this movie is the only family drama in the line-up. If you’re a Filipino movie fan, here are some reasons on why fans from all ages will surely be interested with this one:
This serves as the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano‘s movie comeback after disappearing from the limelight for quite sometime.
The reunion movie of Gabby Concepcion and Maricel Soriano. Don’t you just miss the two of them in a drama love story? Oo na, batang Cinema One na ako LOL.
Carla Abellana garnered a number of awards for a horror film last year, which is unusual. Now that she is set to do a lot of dramatic scenes with stable stars Maricel Soriano and Gabby Concepcion, will she be able to reap more awards?
Jericho Rosales and Lovi Poe‘s first team-up. It’s their first time to do a project together and it is only possible through a film since they are contract stars of different networks.
It is no secret that Lovi Poe is the Princess of Mother Lily this year after giving her five movies (My Valentine Girls, Temptation Island, My Neighbor’s Wife, Aswang and Yesterday Today Tomorrow) this year! Time to show less skin and expose more good drama skills that kills. Hehe.
Jericho Rosales is one of the male actors who can really act. I am a fan of the Echo-Tin loveteam and I miss his drama movies in the past. It’s also his first Regal movie, me thinks.
Dennis Trillo will definitely thrill you as he plays another offbeat role. He is a gym fitness instructor who will be torn between Agot Isidro and Solenn Heussaff, who turn out to be mother and daughter. In the trailer, you will spot him sharing intimate scenes with the two female stars. It reminds me of his role in the old afternoon series Magdusa Ka and Sinner or Saint.
Solenn Heussaff is such a sweetheart with no qualms or whatsoever. This is her third movie for Regal and her first drama. Although she can’t really speak tagalog fluently, I think she’ll be able to pull off her character well in this drama. She is paired with Paulo Avelino and Dennis Trillo here. I met her last October during the shoot of her music video ‘It’s Our First Time‘ and she is also the calendar girl of Ginebra San Miguel for 2012.
Paulo Avelino is ABS-CBN’s newest leading man and it is nice to see him in this movie first before he ventures to serious TV acting. I can sense some steamy scenes too!
Agot Isidro already proves her worth as a character TV actress. Now is her time to shine on the big screen and watch her sizzle as she portrays an offbeat role as a woman who pays a younger man for satisfaction and will eventually get into a tug-of-war game with Solenn Heussaff, her daughter in the movie.
Ronaldo Valdez has proven his worth as an actor and this is Eula Caballero‘s chance to prove that she’s worthy to be called as one of TV5’s Princesses.
It is already a tradition of Mother Lily’s film outfit to produce family-oriented films during the MMFF season. I think Yesterday Today Tomorrow is a bit more interesting compared to their previous offerings (Mano Po saga, Bahay Kubo etc.). Â This movie is under the direction of Jun Lana, which means this is worth watching. I am a fan of his works!
Here’s the official movie trailer of Yesterday Today Tomorrow:
Catch Yesterday Today Tomorrow on your favorite cinemas nationwide starting December 25, 2011. I wouldn’t be surprised if this film will reap more awards. Congratulations in advance!
