I admit it. I didn’t like her when i first saw her on TV. I even raised my left eyebrow when I found out that she’ll be launched as a singer. PR write ups referring to her often mention that she is the daughter of ‘Da King’ and yes, the advantage of getting instant fame.
All the news programs were interested about her and she was even chosen to play the role of Kristal in the TV version of Bakekang, where she shared the limelight with Yasmien Kurdi as her ugly twin sister Charming and Sunshine Dizon playing the title role.
Ok, maybe the real reason i don’t like her is that she is often spotted with Cogie Domingo that time and they even starred in one Love to Love series LOL. Once upon a time, I was Cogie Domingo’s biggest fan.
For me, this girl lacked charisma. She’s just the daughter of a legendary icon in the Philippines. That’s all she is. That’s all.
But then i saw her perform live in Zirkoh Quezon Avenue in Hayden Kho’s show. I loved her rendition of Selena’s Dreaming of You and she smiled to the audience in a genuine way. Still, i had a feeling that this teen star will just remain as ‘one of those’ among GMA-7’s pool of talents. She will be stuck in pa-cute loveteam roles and appear in fantaseryes with kiddie costume on. Unless she portrays a good and challenging role, there’s lesser chances that she will elevate in an upper status.
Then her first bida-kontrabida role came. She and Glaiza de Castro topbilled the afternoon series Kaputol ng Isang Awit. I was able to go to some of their shoots since my friend Jade Lopez played the role of Lovi’s bestfriend in the series. I remember chatting with the late Marky Cielo, Tuesday Vargas, Isabel Granada and Gary Estrada in between takes. I can’t remember why I wasn’t able to really approach Lovi, but i remember her smiling at us all the time. I guess she’s too occupied with her script reading and gadgets just like Glaiza. It was their first big project in the network anyway.
Since Lovi Poe and Glaiza de Castro were able to produce good ratings for the show, the two were offered bigger projects. I was quite disappointed when they were placed in a fantaserye, but that’s work and that is what the network believes in. Oh well.
Glad that Lovi Poe eventually crossed the indie film scene. I think her first film is Sagrada Familia, which is a heavy drama and tackled a very matured theme. I was able to watch the movie Walang Hanggang Paalam online when I was bored one day. Although the movie had less dialogues, her line ‘I’m just lonely’ did leave a mark. That was a beautiful sad film. Watch it for you to get what i mean.
The Cinemalaya entry Mayohan is the only New Breed Category movie I saw last year at the Cinemalaya Film Festival, but I don’t really regret it. She is just effective as Lilibeth the Barrio Lass with her intonation and all. My favorite scene there was when she accidentally mentioned a naughty expression infront of her grandmother π
It’s quite obvious that after she won the award, she is being taken seriously now as an actress. She is now Richard Gutierrez’ leading lady in Captain Barbell (hoping this is her last fantaserye – you deserve better projects!) and now, she is now considered as a Gay Icon with her effective portrayal as the spoiled brat a nanny named Serafina L in the new version of Temptation Island.
Two months from now, she is set to star in another serious sexy-drama entitled ‘My Neighbor’s Wife’ with Dennis Trillo, Jake Cuenca and Carla Abellana. She appears in a magazine cover every month and never fails to surprise her followers. Her sexy billboards are scattered all over the Philippines and China. She is set to appear in more mainstream films too! U already, Lovi!
To be honest now, I wish to work with her soon. I wrote a simple screenplay last year and i pictured her playing the lead role. That script needs revisions and i need to transform it to a longer one and eventually, into a film.
To Lovi Poe, just continue what you’re doing. You’re on the right track! Just don’t mind the intrigues and focus on your work. What I love about you is that yes, you may be involved in a number of intrigas related to your controversial lovelife and all, but i never heard anyone complain about your work ethics. I guess that is another factor why people would love to work with you. Congrats, Lovi! =)

Parang lalo syang gumaganda habang tumatagal at may hawig sya ng konti kay Angel Locsin.
blooming nga! sana makuha mo siya sa film project mo! hahaha! π
@Lakwatsera de Primera – Oo nga may hawig sila. Pwede silang mag-portray as sisters in a movie π
@Helena – Kapag nagawa ko? π
Wow all the while I thought that Bench ad was Angel Locsin. She’s one hot babe!
gusto kong mapanood ang temptation island dahil sa kanya. di toh biro! π
I love the two extremes in the first photo. Lovi is a sweet girl in the left pic while she’s a glamorous woman in the right pic. Was it the make-up or the former was taken a year or two ago. Both ways, she’s beautiful.
@Dennison Uy – She definitely is! π May hawig nga sila ni Angel π
@Ed- Nood na dali! Worth it ang pera, promise π
@Lagalag – Left pic was taken in 2006 and right one 2011. Kaya niya mag-bida or kontrabida look din hehe
Yeah both ways work for her. Mas gusto ko lang talaga pag bida look sya.
She’s beautiful. Wag lang mabuntis agad.
