“What happens in Boracay, stays in Boracay… NOT!”
Last week, I went to Boracay and met up with seven young bloggers who also won at the SEAIR-Microtel Boracay Bloggers’ Tour. I joined the writing project mainly because I want to go back to Boracay. I felt the need to be on the beach and do things I haven’t done during my past two trips. I need a break despite the fact that I’ve been travelling for three straight weekends in a row.
So how was my trip? It’s not my first time to ride in a SEAIR plane for Caticlan, but it is my first time for the check-in counter to not accept me in the flight. Yes, I was late and didn’t make it at the scheduled flight π The important lesson here is I should go to the airport way, way earlier. I arrived 40 minutes before the departure time, but each guest must already be in the departure area 45 minutes before T_T. I ended up taking the 3:15PM flight instead of the original 1:20PM. It’s my fault anyway T_T Sir Leo, Norsan and Ivan even approached me before they left. It seems like SEAIR is really strict with their rules and I think it is for the better. The said flight was full too so I guess it was meant to happen π
I took the 3:15PM flight and majority of the passengers were foreigners. I read the InFlight Magazine (featuring Luke Landrigan and some of the interesting tourist spots in La Union). I didn’t notice that I’m already in Caticlan Airport. The flight is that fast and smooth. What I love about SEAIR is that they automatically give you that ‘this is my private plane’ feel since it can only accommodate 42 passengers the most. It’s also my first time to stay at the left part, which are solo seats.
Kuya Marlon from Microtel Boracay was already there at the airport to pick me up. In the original itinerary, we were supposed to have late lunch at the SEAIR Lounge and have a short trip in the Butterfly Garden. I missed that part and it’s my fault awts.
We rode the SEAIR shuttle and then we rode a boat to the Jetty Port. We traveled from there to Microtel Boracay. To be honest, it will take you minutes before you can finally see Microtel Boracay, but the long ride is worth it.
The Microtel Boracay staff prepared complimentary drinks and towels when I arrived. I was immediately redirected to my room. I then saw my room mates Gracee and Van. In the connecting room, Brenna, Gervic and Gael was there. Darwin was also in the other room that time and I finally met Edcel, who arrived hours ahead of us since he was assigned to travel via SEAIR Cebu-Caticlan route.
Instead of feeling uneasy since I am with new travel mates whom I never met before, I honestly felt quite great. You can see that they are eager to gallivant and take pictures (they’re all first timers). They asked me to go with them in Diniwid Beach and take some pictures.
Diniwid Beach is like a private beach in Boracay. I assume that this appeals to public figures and celebrities especially if they want to swim and at the same time have fun while in Boracay. It’s almost 5PM when we went out.
After taking a short break, we were asked to go to the Function Hall. Norsan Barilea, the Marketing Manager of Microtel presented the company profile. I found out that Microtel Boracay has 51 rooms and it is the first ever Microtel chain with a resort. I’ve been to Microtel Baguio and Microtel Puerto Prinsesa and so far so good, it keeps on getting better! π
Later on, Czarleo Gimena together with Ivan Henares discussed about SEAIR. They have the fastest and most flights to Caticlan (35 Minutes FTW!). Right now, they offer daily flights to Batanes and they’re set to introduce a new route somewhere in Palawan. Mr. Patrick Tan was also there together with the rest of the staff and crew of SEAIR and Microtel Boracay. We were asked to introduce ourselves and share our stories behind our entries.
We ate dinner at Mama’s Fish House, the in-house restaurant of Microtel Boracay. As expected, everyone took food shots before eating π
Watch out for my separate entry about Mama’s Fish House soon at Senyorita.net! π
The next part was a big surprised to us. We played some fun games. Our team lost at the first and second game (too bad I don’t have pictures here T_T). We won at the tug-of-war though LOL. The punishment? Vodka shots π
The Microtel Boracay shuttle brought us to ‘D Mall and we were given the chance to go around. We didn’t push through with the ‘tgsh tgsh tgsh’ plan mainly because it rained before we went there. We were able to take a glimpse of Boracay’s night life though.
We went home and I bonded with newfound friends. I love the fact that I slept in another Microtel room that Saturday night. I simply love the bed sheets, the pillows and aaaah… the very refreshing feel of the room.
More fun and hectic SEAIR-Microtel Boracay Bloggers’ Tour Day Two coming next! π
