First Time in Cebu Day 1: Hanging Out with the Boys

August 7, 2009 is a day of many firsts- my first Cebu Pacific Air ride, first time to meet Cebu-based friends and relatives and first time in Cebu!

Nico, Bong and Mica at NAIA Terminal 3

Bong and I together with his friend Nico met up at NAIA terminal 3. They arrived way earlier that’s why I was seated far away from them T_T. Thank God we reached Mactan Airport on time. I was happy to see an anonymous driver waiting for me. A relative of mine which I haven’t met asked his driver to bring me to a friend’s house. I ate my brunch before sleeping for a few hours.

Deadlines

Deadlines. Dead lines.Don’t you just love beating deadlines? It is the timeframe you impose to yourself on how long a specific task must be completed. I remember asking my teachers to extend the deadline of our projects and assignments way back in high school. We were trained to submit everything on the dot or else we will be suffering the consequences.

You Have a Deadline to Beat. Stop Plurking!

You Have a Deadline to Beat. Stop Plurking!

As a student, I always thought that i’ll be able to escape from this deadline thing once I step out of school, but no. On my first home-based job as a virtual assistant, I was trained by my superiors to finish all my tasks (including daily reports) on a certain time. We rarely had extentions. I thought I could bum around as a work-at-home lady, but no. Thinking about a certain deadline before sleeping and being reminded asap when you wake up is somewhat similar to a nightmare especially if you find your task uninteresting.

BebeCaiz’ Pinkish Birthday

Cai and Mica at the set of Kuya Bunso

Cai and Mica at the set of Kuya Bunso

Today, one of my bestest blogger friend is turning twenty two years old. She is pretty, smart, talented and not your ordinary girl. And yeah, she is in love with Pink.

I met Cai for the first time at the iBlog3. We instantly became good friends after knowing that we are both i.ph bloggers. We would regularly chat about our college projects and online rakets through YM since I was based in Dagupan City. When I finally transfered here in Manila to embark a career and explore the blogosphere, we became closer. I later on found out that we are both into film making and creative writing. She had done three short films already!

Last Minute Decision: I’ll Go Surfing in La Union!

letsgosurfing

Due to the insistent demand of my blogger friends, I’ve decided to join the Let’s Go Surfing event by LetsGoSago.net. This is the first anniversary project of my dear friend Jonel Uy. Some of the proceeds will go to a charity. The two-day event will take place on August 15-16 (later!) at the Billabong Surf School and San Juan Surf Resort in Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan, La Union. I need to unwind a bit so I’m joining weeee 🙂

When The Person You Truly Love is Gay

‘Sa panahon ngayon, ruler na lang ang straight!’

Teh, sigurado kang straight yang katabi mo?

Teh, sigurado kang straight yang katabi mo?

Three years ago, Katrina Halili was launched as a lead movie actress via the sexy-comedy flick ‘Gigil’. It’s basically about a girl working in a call center who’s engaged to be married with her boyfriend for five years. The guy is almost perfect – family-oriented (or Mama’s Boy?), very neat (vain!), responsible and most of all, handsome. Who would have thought that the groom would runaway with the best man on the wedding day itself? It might sound like a funny scenario, but if that happened to me in real life, I’d end up crying for months.

Edge Coaster Experience at Crown Regency Hotel, Cebu City

One of the reasons why I am excited to go to the Queen City of the South is the chance to ride on the Edge Coaster. I’ve been hearing a lot of testimonials about it and I was able to watch some videos of the brave individuals who tried it out. Seeing the feature of the travel show Trip na Trip with Jayson and Franzen singing Kapantay ay Langit while riding made me really eager to try it out myself.

Last August 8, 2009 at exactly 4:46PM with a windy weather, McBilly and I successfully completed the ride on the World’s First and Only Edge Coaster at the 38th level of outer-rim of Crown Regency Hotel and Towers, the tallest hotel tower in the country, standing 40 storey’s high at Fuente Osmena. (that’s according to our certificate teehee).

Back From Cebu City!

Hello everyone! The Dagupena Dreamer is back from Cebu City! I am really excited to upload all the photos taken from my four day stay at the Queen City of the South. Thanks to Eric for booking the flight for me months ago when there was an ongoing promo at Cebu Pacific.

Is Mr. Right here in Cebu City? LOL

Is Mr. Right here in Cebu City? LOL

I arrived in Mactan, Cebu last Friday with Bong and Nico. We parted ways later on and I went to a friend’s house. On the first day, my friends and I went around Cebu and took lots of photos. I originally wanted to take at least 200 photos a day haha 😛 I went to Ayala Mall, Waterfront, Casa Verde, Top’s and KFC 😛

On the second day, Eric, Shena and Aaron arrived from Manila. We stayed at Hotel Pier Cuatro found at 4th Avenue. I went to Crown Regency Hotel with McBilly and Angelo for the Edge Coaster ride. Angelo and I went to Ayala after to meet up with my cousin for the first time. I will tell you more about him on my next blog entry.

The Cinemalaya Cinco Experience

As an aspiring film maker, I’ve always dreamt of attending the Cinemalaya Film Festival. I remember reading nice reviews from movie critics about some of my favorite Cinemalaya movies like Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Room Boy, Isnats, Endo and 100. I was based in Dagupan during that time. I wanted to go with a blogger friend last year to watch some movies, but my work schedule didn’t permit me to do so.

Cinemalaya Cinco Short Film Finalists

Cinemalaya Cinco Short Film Finalists

I am grateful to Gibbs Cadiz for choosing me as one of the five bloggers to cover the Cinemalaya Cinco event! Not only did I get the chance all the movies for free, but I was also able to meet and greet some of the directors and casts of the participating films. During the presscon which took place sometime in May, I got the chance to talk to Pepe Diokno of Engkwentro (where I asked him if he’s a bit scared about the issues that might pop-up after the movie’s release), Edgar Allan Guzman (one of the actors of Astig), Alfred Vargas (where the press mobbed him with political and Katrina Halili related questions) and Che Ramos (where I expressed that I am a fan of her effective portrayal as a rich preso girl at Prinsesa ng Banyera LOL).

Goodbye, July! Hello, August!

JULY was a very busy month for me. I attended a number of blogger and non-blogger events, met up with some offline friends on different occassions, reminisced my father’s death anniversary, bonded with my grandparents, shot my second short film, attended the Cinemalaya Cinco Festival for the first time, wrote lots of work-related articles, created an outline for a new story and many, many more. I need to escape from the busy city of Manila waaah…

Wacky Moment at Krispy Kreme with Bong and Jade - And i'm wearing a Tarbak Shirt :P

the 12th of July - Kulitan with Bong and Jade at KK. Deadline: The 12th of August waaah

Today is August 1 and I am looking forward to a much busier month! I will be working on the post-production of my second film later and the first film on Sunday (baliktad! LOL). I registered a number of domains a few months back and i’m planning to post some entries as soon as i have time. I might collaborate with a friend for a new project and I am really hoping it will push through. I will be launching my travel blog anytime and yes…

I’M GOING TO CEBU!

I’m excited to go to Cebu City, the birthplace of my grandfather (though he never really spent his childhood there). Hopefully, I’ll be meeting my Cebu-based relatives and at the same time meet up with ‘online’ and ‘offline’ friends. Keywords on my mind: Edge Coaster, Bantayan, Carcar, Talisay, IAFT, Danggit,Chicharon and LECHON!
