Case of the Missing Scarf

I remember clearly when this photo was taken. Behind me is a mystery man whom I’ve been following online since last year. We met in person during my first night in Siem Reap and I am still in awe up to this day that I finally met him. No, I am not in love with this person in a romantic way. I just felt like I found a big brother in him and he’s been giving me tips about traveling, blogging and life. He’s the man!

With the Mystery Man one morning at Siem Reap River

We were at the wet market of Siem Reap with a friend minutes before this photo was taken. I was scheduled to take the 8AM bus ride (Siem Reap-Bangkok) and I booked my ticket a night before. I wanted to go to the wet market to see a certain rare find there, but we failed to see it. We decided to just walk ’till we reach the Siem Reap River and to our guesthouse.

To cut the intro short, I ended up not taking the bus trip even if I made it just on time. I am aware that I just wasted $10, but I know that I will gain more knowledge and memories once I extend my stay for two more nights.

The mystery man handed me a scarf a night before my actual departure from Siem Reap. He told me that I can use the scarf on my upcoming trips. I am touched with this simple gesture. Ang sweet lang hehe.

Living the Dream and Wandering – Why?

I am seated right now in a pizza and pasta place somewhere along Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It is my 3rd night here and I am truly savoring every moment. I am not a Tomb Raider fan and I only saw the movie once in an unclear copy, but I knew that I wanted to explore Angkor Wat. During the release of the Angelina Jolie starer, traveling from Manila to Siem Reap is not easy. Well, it is not really that easy since there are no direct flights yet (although a local airline announced that they will launch their Siem Reap routes by June.

I Wander while I work

It is my first time to cross borders. Thailand and Cambodia are two different countries with a certain charm that makes them a favorite destination of foreign travelers. I spent two nights in Bangkok and will be going back in a few days, but I now know why the tag ‘Amazing Thailand’ worked. I met a number of Thailander students in Pangasinan who are studying Medicine and they’re thoughtful especially to my grandparents. Gallivanting along Khao San Road is an overwhelming experience – it is chaotic yet I love it. I even went on the middle of the famous backpacker’s lane and danced like nobody’s watching. Well, a lot of people were watching hehe 😀

I Just Wanna Be on the Beach (Sunburn!)

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVOz6FKGruc&w=480&h=385]

Here she comes, golden island senyorita. Here she comes, do you know her name?

I am currently playing the song ‘Sunburn’ by Sandwich as I type this entry. It is one of my favorite beach songs and I am sure that most people (especially those who are working in the corporate world) can relate to the song especially in this part:

I need to get away from the city
I need to get away from the work
I need to get away from the traffic
I need to get away
Got to get away

I am not a good swimmer, but i really love going to the beach. I am fortunate because I’m going to the beach (again!) 10 hours from now with seven more bloggers. Yes, I won at the SEAIR – Microtel Blogger contest! I’m quite excited to meet them (never met any of them in person!) and the fact that I’m going back to Boracay just makes me smile. I really need to go there now because I made a major decision days ago. I need to go to the beach and simply feel the wind and the waves… I want to experience the Boracay nightlife if possible. Though I enjoyed my previous trips to Boracay, I wasn’t able to ‘dance’. Hmmm… will that happen now? Hopefully 😀

When a Sleepy Head Doodles

Even if i have a laptop with me where i can keep soft copies of my thoughts, i still keep a number of notebooks with me. Ever since I was in elementary, I have this habit of reusing some of my school notebooks for doodling. If ever you saw a notebook with my name on it but there’s no doodle at the back, most probably that is not mine.

After the surprise kiddie party my friends prepared for me on my twenty third birthday, i managed to write a doodle on my ‘notebook of the month’. With my red ballpen that I use for proofreading, i wrote some of the things i want to do now that i am 23 years old. There’s something special about turning twenty three and i can’t really explain why. I remember a blogger friend from Livejournal telling me when I was 18 that my 23rd year in planet earth will be a very exciting one. I won’t tell on which specific part of my life that will be, but your guess is as good as mine.

Want to see the doodle? Ok here it is LOL:

Sleepy Mica Doodles

(Forgive me with my poor penmanship. I iz sleepy LOL)

What I wrote there is not arranged in chronological order, but let me explain every point LOL.

Why the Blogger Behind Jehzlau Concepts is Influential

I AM WRITING ABOUT JEHZEEL  LAURENTE A.K.A JEHZLAU AGAIN!!!!
And I don’t regret it.

I went out with him, Winston and Xef the other night to watch a movie. Before we went back to our respective homes, Jehz invited us to eat first. As expected, we ate a lot. I ended up eating two cups of rice and ate the leftovers (My appetite is kinda weird the past few days LOL). On our way home, Jehz and I were talking about the possibility of traveling once more just like what we did a few weeks ago with the rest of the Nyoks at Cebu. We also discussed about some blog projects and so on. As usual, his childish yet charming ways made me really smile. Seeing him happy makes me happy.

The Blue Stickman who is not really blue blogging beside me =P

The Blue Stickman who is not really blue blogging beside me =P

I went online as soon as I got home. Saw him online a few minutes after then he suddenly plurked about the email he received from a Nuffnang Philippines representative. According to the email, he is nominated for the Most Influential Blog Category. He can’t believe it but it’s true. He forwarded the said message to me and we were like little kids who kept on saying ‘waaaaaaaah’ waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah’ and more ‘waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah’ to each other.

I am not really sure on what was Nuffnang’s basis on choosing him as one of the nominees for the Most Influential Blog on their first ever awards night at Singapore, but let me share to you my own basis on why Jehz is really worth voting for and why he deserves to be the first ever Influential Blogger to be recognized by the rest of the Nuffnangers around the world.

Is Grandparent’s Day Really Important?

Here in the Philippines, it is a tradition for us to greet our loving moms a happy mother’s day at the second sunday of May. We also do greet our dads a happy father’s day on the second sunday of June. Usually, we give them gifts like a fancy lab grown solitaire ring or we make them special on the said dates.

Me and my grandparents at Boracay - Because life is a pleasure with you by my side! :D

Me and my grandparents at Boracay – Because life is a pleasure with you by my side! 😀

I am not really sure if it is only me, but I only heard of the Grandparents’ Day a few years ago. I remember my grandmother telling me that I failed to greet her that day. I am not sure if it the special day was celebrated by families way back or if it is just a newly-imposed holiday by businessmen to attract more customers at the second sunday of September.

If you think that I am whining about it, well, you’re wrong. Making my grandparents happy is a big fulfillment for me and believe me, I’ve been wanting to pamper them since I was a young girl. I remember telling my lolo as a kid that I will give him a plane ticket once I grow up. I even told him that I’ll be a stewardess LOL. He gave me, my mom and dad a chance to go to Hongkong when I was yonger. It’s about time that I return the favor.

Ever since I became a member of the stressed workforce of Makati last year, I always see to it that I spend time with them whenever they are here in Manila. Lolo and Lola usually goes here at least once a month. I have to admit that I’ve been very stressed with my previous work in terms of the work schedule, but a quick breakfast or late dinner is something that I always look forward to. I see to it that I have time for them.

Random Thoughts at 4 in the Morning

I’m currently listening to Gwen Stefani’s ‘4 in the Morning’ as I write this entry. It’s 3:56am as I type these words. That simply means that four minutes from now, it will be 4AM here in the Philippines. The time stamp of my blog is not accurate though LOL.

Shoot us and we'll shoot you!

Shoot us and we'll shoot you!

Last week, I went to Cebu with the Nyokers. The trip is very memorable for all of us. Photo walks, food tripping, camwhoring, emo moments, videoke, kimmy dora and much more. I want to blog about the said trip but sadly, the photos are not yet up. For the meantime, I’m just giving you an idea that I had fun with the last Cebu trip. If you want to know more, I will look into it.  I’ll get back to you. I’ll give you an update. RAWR! 😀

First Time in Cebu Day 1: Hanging Out with the Boys

August 7, 2009 is a day of many firsts- my first Cebu Pacific Air ride, first time to meet Cebu-based friends and relatives and first time in Cebu!

Nico, Bong and Mica at NAIA Terminal 3

Nico, Bong and Mica at NAIA Terminal 3

Bong and I together with his friend Nico met up at NAIA terminal 3. They arrived way earlier that’s why I was seated far away from them T_T. Thank God we reached Mactan Airport on time. I was happy to see an anonymous driver waiting for me. A relative of mine which I haven’t met asked his driver to bring me to a friend’s house. I ate my brunch before sleeping for a few hours.
