The Queen of Bossa Nova and Acoustic Pop in one Pre-Valentine Show

For the first time, the Philippines’ Queen of Bossa Nova Sitti Navarro and the Queen of Acoustic Pop Juris Fernandez joined forces for a very special pre-Valentine show at Metrobar West Avenue last Wednesday, February 10.

I originally planned to watch the said show with my high school buddies. Unfortunately, all of them backed out the last minute due to the stress they earned from work that day (boo!). Since I don’t want to waste the complimentary tickets I got from my Pinoy Parazzi family, I tried my luck inviting some of my blogger friends. Hannah, Vince and Carl immediately said yes to my impromptu invitation yey 😛

MTV Emerge supports unsigned Filipino artists

Last month, I saw the music video of our very own kababayan Apl.de.Ap with the song ‘Take Me to the Philippines”. Days after, I read some blog entries about his project called Jeepney Music and he collaborated with the Department of Tourism which made a lot of Filipinos, especially his fans happy and proud to be a Filipino.

While chatting with my friend who is a fan of Pinoy indie bands, she gave me the link to MTV Emerge. I found out that they have a contest going on for unsigned Filipino artists to showcase their talents. The smiled when I heard that the project is a MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration. Seven grand winners will be chosen and will sign a one year contract with Jeepney Music which will be handled by Apl de Ap himself! He will guide them in terms of digital distribution of songs and marketing strategies.

Single Ladies By Princess Official Music Video

Single Ladies By Princess Velasco Music Video Screencap

Just last month, Princess Velasco’s debut album ‘Addicted to Acoustic’ received its gold record award. I am really happy because another dream of hers turns into reality. She’s a real talented woman and I am quite sure you will agree with me once you see her perform onstage.

Anyway, her first music video for the song Single Ladies is finally up!

Addicted to Acoustic with Princess

Two years ago, I met Princess Velasco at a mini concert. She rendered a special song number and since then, I became a big fan of hers.

A few months after, we became officemates. She is not just a talented performer, but most importantly, a smart lady. Her subordinates and students can attest to that.

Princess Velasco - Addicted to Acoustic

Just recently, I found out that she is now a recording artist! Her debut album called “Addicted to Acoustic” is now out in the market for Pho 200 only!

The said laidback acoustic album contains 18 cover songs of some of today’s acoustic hits such as Realize, T-Shirt, Thinking of You, Single Ladies, I Hate This Part, Love Bug and many more! Lucky me was able to find some sample songs and here are some of them:

Let’s Talk About the Techy Romantics!

techyromantics1

Just last month, a number of bloggers were invited at the  Philips Go Gear event at Bonifacio High Street. Aside from the games and presentation of the newest techy gadgets, a number of bands played much to the delight of the guests. One of the bands who made that event very memorable is the indie band Techy Romantics. I am not really familiar with the band until I saw them perform onstage. Their sound reminds me of The Cardigans (Erase/Rewind, Grand Turismo, Lovefool).

The other night, I was lucky to meet Dondi Virrey, the one in-charge with the samples and keys. Thanks to our common friend Chiko Lara. I later on found out a few information regarding the indie band which will soon invade the music scene.

The Influence of Michael Jackson

Yesterday, I received a text message from a friend informing me about Michael Jackson’s death. I originally thought it was a hoax not until I went online and read the post from Showbiz Gossips that indeed, the King of Pop passed away. It’s no gossip. It’s a fact that really made the whole world sad.

Michael Jackson

With a father working as a disc jockey and a mom who is a graceful dancer, I grew up listening to the songs of Madonna, Janet and of course, Michael Jackson. Please let me share to you how Michael Jackson’s songs inspired and influenced me as a kid.

Read Ten of My Most Memorable Michael Jackson songs. Beware of the heavy videos though 😀

Sometime last month, Jeff a.k.a. Singing Blogger and I recorded a song together. Well, we were not really together inside a room, but I was able to record my vocals and I sent it to him through ym. He did the editing stuff and viola! we have our own version of Careless Whisper!

Micamyx and Singing Blogger

When the song was “released” online, a lot of people were wondering if we met up prior to that recording. Just saw him twice (Tv5 Videoke and Ipanema) and we only managed to say hi and hello. I am really a fan of his eversince I heard his version of Angels so there 😛

Thanks to Pinoy Popcast, Jeff and I finally met up last week and recorded a song together!

Random Whispers of a Good Friend

* I wasn’t able to sleep well last night because I recorded a song with The Singing Blogger. How? Well, I recorded my voice first and sent the audio file to him. After an hour of editing, we were able to produce our own rendition of Careless Whisper. The idea of having a duet started when I voted for his blog as one of the emerging influential blogs of 2009. We have a number of songs in mind for our duet, but we decided to record the George Micheal/Tamia hit since a blogger sent the instrumental version to him. Nice! 😀

* My grandfather called me up this morning informing me about our hotel booking for Boracay. He was a bit worried and was indirectly blaming me for something. In short, FAIL. I need to look for a good hotel as soon as possible or else i’m dead 😐
