Rihanna: The Last Song Syndrome Queen

RIHANNA is one of the hottest personalities in the international music in the recent years. With chart-topping hits, interesting personal life and dedication her craft, Rihanna is a superstar in her own right!

Rihanna, you da one and only LSS Queen!

I love Rihanna and although I am not a die-hard fan of hers, I do love to sing and dance with her songs. Actually, I think her songs have the power to capture every listener’s attention and eventually keep it on loop until one gets tired of it. I can mention a number of awkward encounters wherein I sing out loud or dance in a public place one I hear a song of hers LOL. I’m sorry but I just can’t help it! Most of Rihanna’s songs can cause one the so-called ‘Last Song Syndrome’.

Want me to give examples? Here you go!

‘It’s Our First Time’ with Solenn Heussaff & Gaz Holgate (Music Video Preview)

Wednesday is the ‘Official Solenn Heussaff Day‘. For the first time, I met the French/Filipina performer in person! Together with a number of bloggers, we went all the way to Republiq in Resort World Manila to cover the music video shoot of Solenn’s second single from her debut album.

Hot & Steamy scene - literally

Hot & Steamy scene - literally

Although I first read about her in magazines attending in socialite events and other fashion-related gatherings, I’ve always felt that Solenn is not really that intimidating. Glad that I am right with my gutfeel when we were finally introduced to her over lunch together with Gaz Holgate, her leading man in the music video.

Photos and Videos after the jump! CAUTION: Hotness overload!

The Soothing Music of Mike Francis

LITTLE TRIVIA:  When I asked my Dad and Mom where my name (Micaela Fransesca) came from, they mentioned that Italian pianist/songwriter Mike Francis influenced them. There is another version about naming me after two relatives. Whatever the real reason is, I am happy with my name.

Mike Francis, one of Italy's best artist of all time

My Father used to work as a Radio DJ in various radio stations in Dagupan, Baguio and even as far as Puerto Princesa. I am lucky to be his assistant while he’s on duty. I remember him teaching me how to take good care of phonograph record disks. It is arranged according to record labels as these companies send out samples for the radio shows to play. He used to have this memo notepad where he writes his playlist then arranges it manually on his shift. I can say that his workmates loved it when I’m around since they ask me the most awkward questions and I answer them with no hesitations. Being friends with his female fans is quite a learning experience for me. Hmmm… now i am thinking of writing a series about my experience as a Radio DJ’s sidekick πŸ˜€

Anyway, my dad is a collector of cassette tapes and I think he collected more than 300 albums. It is already our afternoon hobby to just stay at home, cook food and play loud music. From the Beatles to Michael Jackson to Rolling Stones to CARS to Heart to Jon Secada to Bob Marley and KISS – almost every genre! We used to record some of his shows in a blank tape and now I regret re-using it to record pop songs. Now I don’t have a physical cassette tape with his voice on it πŸ™

One of the artists we’d love to hear at home on Family weekends is of course, Mike Francis. The Italian artist passed away two years ago, but his music truly lives on. Here are some of my favorite Mike Francis songs.

‘Acoustic Princess’ By Princess Velasco (with Music Videos)

Princess Velasco is dubbed as the ‘Acoustic Princess‘ in the Philippine Music Scene. It was just less than two years ago when I blogged about me attending Princess Velasco’s mall tour at SM Megamall for her first album ‘Addicted to Acoustic’. Just a few months after, she released her Addicted to Acoustic 2 . Now, she’s out with her third one!

Time flies really fast. It was just like yesterday when we were working at the same room for the Marketing Department of a company. πŸ˜€ I really learned a lot from her in terms of work and life. She is a corporate expert and versatile performer rolled into one! πŸ˜€

My Top 5 Favorite Jennifer Lopez Dance Music Videos

When Jennifer Lopez released the song ‘On The Floor’ a couple of months ago, I was really happy. The versatile superstar is one of my influences when it comes to performing. Her dance hit ‘Waiting for Tonight’ helped me out recover from a surgery when I was 12 years old (dancing two days after the operation hehe) and due to the balanced mix of her songs, I learned to appreciate the different types of dance. Her debut album ‘On the 6’ is one of the best music albums ever (for me, at least.)

Jennifer Lopez sizzles at 41! <3

Now that she’s really back, let me share some of my favorite Jennifer Lopez Dance Videos. FYI, she started out as a dancer for the TV show ‘The Living Color’ and she also appeared in the music video of Janet Jackson for the song ‘That’s The Way Love Goes’. Thanks to her role as Selena at the late-singer’s biopic, Jennifer’s talent was recognized until she emerged as one of Hollywood’s hottest leading lady and she invaded the music scene too!

Jennifer Lopez makes it a point to look fabulous in her music video. For now, I’ll be posting my Top 5 Favorite Jennifer Lopez Dance Music Videos.

‘To Be With You’ by Mr. Big

Last year, I got addicted to Mag:Net High Street’s Monday Rockeoke Nights. I blame it on Judd and Carlos of Nuffnang PH LOL. I declared Monday night as Rockeoke night during the first part of 2010. After my work in Quezon City, I would go home to eat quick dinner, dress up and go straight to Bonifacio High Street to jam with my friends.

I'm the one who wants to be with you...

Usually, songs like ‘Sweet Child of Mine’, ‘Alone’, ‘Creep’ and ‘With or Without You’  and ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ is on our song list. We would listen to Gabe Mercado, Wanggo Gallaga or Quark Henares as they threw punchlines after every performance.

One of the songs I usually perform on Rockeoke nights is Mr. Big’s ‘To Be With You‘. I remember Wanggo saying that it is a pub song and it is rare for a girl to sing the song onstage. Since the original version had male vocals on it, i sang my own version by switching the words ‘girl’ to ‘boy’. I’m glad that in my three attempts to sing the song live, i can say that i had a good performance and I think i am the only one who was brave enough to sing that song LOL.

On Princess Velasco’s ‘You Still Have My Heart’ Music Video

Micamyx is currently watching Myx. I am busy updating some of my blogs when all of a sudden, VJ Nikki introduced Princess Velasco’s ‘You Still Have My Heart’ in Myx’s Pinoy Countdown.

princess_velasco_you_still_have_my_heart

I bought a copy of Princess’ sophomore album last February as a pre-valentine gift for myself. Her first single is her very own acoustic version of Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’. Her version is obviously a more soothing one, but I didn’t like the music video that much. She has a number of good revivals in the second album and finally, she recorded one original song. The title of the track is ‘You Still Have My Heart’, which was written by Davey Langit of Pinoy Dream Academy Season One. I fell in love instantly when I first heard the song. I even used it in one of my Project 52 Weeks entry πŸ˜› I am so happy to know that finally, Princess released the song as one of her singles and a music video was even made and produced.

Kenyo and Hi-C’s Simulan na Natin – Setting the Sexy Mood Pinoy Style

Let’s face it – In the Philippines, only a few OPM artists were able to record a song that can set a very sexy move. Some tried, but most of them failed.

simulan_na_natin

Just last weekend, I stumbled upon the newest music video of Kenyo featuring Hi-C. It is the first time that I heard of their newest song entitled ‘Simulan na Natin’. The video is undeniably sexy and I bet the fans of Hi-C envy MCoy while watching it. As a fan of Orange and Lemons (Hanggang Kailan, Heaven Knows, Magkayakap sa Dilim) and Dice & K9 (Itsumo, Shake, Bestfriends, Rendevouz), I am glad to know that MCoy Fundales and Hi-C collaborated for this wonderful project. The music video was tastefully done and the song can simply make anyone feel sexy ones they hear it πŸ˜›
