Jennylyn Mercado – I am Woman Birthday Concert

I remember clearly the night Jennylyn Mercado was proclaimed as the first ultimate female survivor of Starstruck, the reality-based artista search of GMA-7. I wanted her to win because for me, she is the most talented among her batch mates.

Jennylyn Mercado - I am Woman

I remember buying her debut album called “Living The Dream” on May 15, 2004 – her birthday. I went to Nepo Mall Dagupan just to get my own copy that day and its the last copy available! There’s an extra small purple Bambini Cologne enclosed with the CD. My favorite track in the album is “If I’m Not In Love With You”, which is a duet with Janno Gibbs.

Fast forward to 2009 – Jennylyn is now 22 years old and is a mom to a very cute baby boy. She has a number of box-office movies mostly with her loveteam and ex-boyfriend Mark Herras, an afternoon drama show called Paano Ba Ang Mangarap? and three albums under GMA Records. Indeed, Jennylyn Mercado is STILL one of GMA-7’s prized possession.

Lady Gaga Eh Eh

I am going gaga over Lady Gaga‘s songs like Poker Face and Just Dance. Last week, i took a quiz at Facebook called “Which Lady Gaga song are you?” and my result is: Eh Eh (There’s nothing else i can say). I found the song at Youtube and I’m playing and groovin’ to it as i type this entry.

Here are some headlines that can make me  say Eh Eh this week (go figure out if its a good or bad eh-eh LOL)

Belo Bloggers Barkada Videoke Night @ Centerstage

Everyone had a stressful workload last week. It is pretty obvious in the plurks of many plurkers that beating a boss or client’s deadline or the submission of projects in school can kill anybody’s social life.

Last Tuesday night (October 21, 2008), Doc Hayden invited a number of bloggers and Multiply friends for a simple get together in Centerstage Family KTV & Resto Bar at Jupiter, Makati. It was the second time of the Marketing team to go there (first time entry via pataygutom) and we fell in love the place! They have an updated list of songs, good ambiance and delicious food. Centerstage is partly owned by Kapuso star Karylle and the current male Beloshape endorser Dingdong Dantes.

Persian/Filipina Sepideh Vaziri in Idol 2008 (Swedish Version)

Before I left Dagupan to work here in Manila, I met up with my college friend Dana for a small chat over coffee. We were talking about her bestfriend named Sep, who is based in Sweden. She told me that she’s kinda disappointed with her friend’s decision to postpone her trip here in the Philippines because she luckily got in the first round of auditions in Swedish Idol. I can say that Dana loves her friend so much and they constantly keep in touch through emails, chats and expensive phone calls hehe 🙂 I remember her stories years ago about their trip to Hundred Islands. They even have plans of visiting the Belo Medical Group to avail some of it’s services.

Just last week, I read Dana’s post at Multiply that Sep, popularly known now in Sweden as SEPIDEH VAZIRI got in the Top 16 of Idol 2008.

Just this morning, Dana sent me a text message telling me that Sep is finally one of the Top 11 finalists!

RAKENROL MGA RAKISTA!

Though my beloved Black wallet was stolen in the MRT last Tuesday morning, I can say that I didn’t have a bad day at all.

I went to Kimono Ken at Tomas Morato at lunch time for the mini-presscon of Rakista director Quark Henares. See, I’ve been a fan of Quark since he wrote and directed the movie Keka, which I consider as one of the best Filipino movies of all time mainly because of the unique concept, great actors (I didn’t see Katya Santos as a Viva Hot Babe in that movie) and because of some coincidence in the names of the main characters.

Moving on..

I’ve known Quark online two years ago because he is one of my LJ contacts. I constantly commented on his posts and he also did in some of my entries (especially the Super Noypi-related ones LOL). I finally met him just last May 2008 in a birthday party at Mag:Net Cafe and yep, na-starstruck ako! I never thought that he can can really entertain the guests well with his “Straight” and “Gay” version of Lisa Loeb’s “Stay”.

Last year, I read his post regarding his new baby entitled “Rakenrol”. It is an indie movie about bands and all that. The movie stars Glaiza De Castro, Jason Abalos, Ketchup Eusebio, Alwyn Uytingco and Diether Ocampo. I heard that they only have two shooting days left and the movie might be released anytime next year.

So while working on a number of stuff which includes teaching college students, taking photos at blow-up babies, rocking the rockeoke nights of Mag:net Cafe, directing music videos and tvs and writing scripts for his upcoming projects, he managed to direct and produce TV-5’s RAKISTA.

RAKISTA is being shown every Thursday night at 7pm with replays on Sundays at 1pm. It stars Carlo Aquino (Caloy), Denise Laurel (CC), Rea Nakpil (Bebe), Alcris Galura (Nix), Charles Christianson (Ted) and Wincy Ong (Sven).

Carlo Aquino as Caloy

Here are some random facts about the show:

* The role Caloy is really intended for Carlo Aquino. The producers handpicked him because of his talent as an actor and as a musician.
