Is Grandparent’s Day Really Important?

Here in the Philippines, it is a tradition for us to greet our loving moms a happy mother’s day at the second sunday of May. We also do greet our dads a happy father’s day on the second sunday of June. Usually, we give them gifts like a fancy lab grown solitaire ring or we make them special on the said dates.

Me and my grandparents at Boracay – Because life is a pleasure with you by my side! 😀

I am not really sure if it is only me, but I only heard of the Grandparents’ Day a few years ago. I remember my grandmother telling me that I failed to greet her that day. I am not sure if it the special day was celebrated by families way back or if it is just a newly-imposed holiday by businessmen to attract more customers at the second sunday of September.

If you think that I am whining about it, well, you’re wrong. Making my grandparents happy is a big fulfillment for me and believe me, I’ve been wanting to pamper them since I was a young girl. I remember telling my lolo as a kid that I will give him a plane ticket once I grow up. I even told him that I’ll be a stewardess LOL. He gave me, my mom and dad a chance to go to Hongkong when I was yonger. It’s about time that I return the favor.

Ever since I became a member of the stressed workforce of Makati last year, I always see to it that I spend time with them whenever they are here in Manila. Lolo and Lola usually goes here at least once a month. I have to admit that I’ve been very stressed with my previous work in terms of the work schedule, but a quick breakfast or late dinner is something that I always look forward to. I see to it that I have time for them.

I had the chance to call my mom earlier. She is now based in England together with my brother Carlo. My mom answered the phone gleefully as she originally thought that I’ll miss greeting her on her special day. I haven’t talked to her for a long time (five days to be exact teehee) and she panicked already.

So how was my second day in Cebu? Well, I slept the whole morning. The Kemboteras namely Eric, Aaron and Shena arrived in the Hotel that morning and went straight to CnT Lechon. I, on the other hand had different plans. We will be riding the popular Edge Coaster, meet up with a cousin whom I never met before and dinner with the Cebu Bloggers Society at Larsian’s Barbeque.

Life’s a Beach and then you Die

Life's a Beach and then you Die

He was sipping a hot black coffee in a black mug where the saying “Life’s a Beach then you die” is engraved as he solves a crossword puzzle. He lit and puffed his last stick of Prime Time Cigars when I complained that I am irritated with his thick mustache especially when he is kissing me.

Random Realizations on my Father’s 45th Birthday

A few minutes ago, a dear blogger friend of mine named Winston shared the post he wrote last year about a simple event that changed his life forever.

To be honest, I’ve been bothered since Thursday because of the recent turnout of events in my family. Nothing that serious, really. It’s just that by next year, I have to make a choice for my family’s sake. I have also decided that I am willing to sacrifice my “wants” for the “needs” of my family.

I am lucky because I have some friends that I can talk to. I have my “Kuyas” and “Besties” that gives me all the support and guidance that I need.

Last Friday, I decided to watch the movie “100” alone at Glorietta. The movie did made me cry for the following keywords:

Three Important Men in Mica’s Life

Straight from Dagupan, my grannies went to my workplace to fetch me. My officemates were curious on why I brought my green backpack with me and transferred some of my clothes in a white paper bag. They got even more suspicious when I showed them my black dress.

May date ka  noh?” female officemate asked.

“Wala to. Nothing romantic, pero i’ll meet up with a guy that I haven’t visited for months and two special people will accompany me.” I replied.

Yihii. May date nga ito! Saan ka ba pupunta?” she asked again.

Sa Manila Memorial Park” I said with a smile on my face.

Belo Bloggers Barkada Videoke Night @ Centerstage

Everyone had a stressful workload last week. It is pretty obvious in the plurks of many plurkers that beating a boss or client’s deadline or the submission of projects in school can kill anybody’s social life.

Last Tuesday night (October 21, 2008), Doc Hayden invited a number of bloggers and Multiply friends for a simple get together in Centerstage Family KTV & Resto Bar at Jupiter, Makati. It was the second time of the Marketing team to go there (first time entry via pataygutom) and we fell in love the place! They have an updated list of songs, good ambiance and delicious food. Centerstage is partly owned by Kapuso star Karylle and the current male Beloshape endorser Dingdong Dantes.

8 Days of Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy

Since I am stressed and I’m about to leave Manila in two hours for a five hours and 30 minutes bus trip to Dagupan and be back in Manila by night time, I decided to blog about some of the things that made me happy the past eight days. I originally planned to blog about it, but due to my workload and my messed up mind, all these entries are not yet published. I also play ufa casino games once in a while to help calm my mind and de-stress.

Let’s start!

Wednesday – I arrived in Dagupan after two months. I saw my ever loving grannies at home and decided to treat them for dinner. We went to Dagupena Restaurant, one of the best restaurants in Pangasinan. We ordered Pinapaitan, Buro and Crispy Pata. We ate a lot and we were able to update each other with the latest updates on my brother, my mom, work, family etc. Lolo and Lola told me that the dinner made them really happy and that they do really miss me and my presence in the house (I miss you both!)

Thursday – I went back to school and bonded with Jaypee, one of my closest college friend. We drank Mocha twice (haha) and we talked about random stuff. I also spent some quality time alone in Gloria Jeans Dagupan working on my documents and private blog entries.

Friday – Watta stressful Friday! Due to mild depression, I decided to go back to Manila at 6pm. While on the bus, I ate a lot of tupig and when I arrived in my Manila room, I had my first ever Swedish Massage. Now I agree with Yogajane – The scent of Lavender is really relaxing.

Saturday – I went back to work and ate a lot – Sinigang na baboy, Hipon, Boneless Bangus, two cakes, Fish Fillet etc! Not only that, the Plurkfiesta team went to Gateway and ate dinner at the Pancake House. We went to UCC Morato after and..

Sunday – It’s Arbet’s birthday! We greeted him a happy, happy birthday in person and via Plurk 😀 I did discover a lot of trivias about the Plurkfiesta regulars. I always look forward to Saturday or Sunday Plurkfiesta just simply because kuwan.. basta alam niyo na yun at nagpapasalamat ako 🙂

48 Years of Love and Affection

October is a special month for my grandparents especially the twenty second day. It is the day when they were finally pronounced as Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez.

It has been a routine for my favorite couple to go out of the country and unwind for a week every October and in every trip they go to, they always go back home with more weight and a big smile on their faces.

They arrived here at home from their trip to Vietnam and China two hours ago. My grandpa told me the bad news that his phone was stolen in the trip and that he accidentally deleted all the photos on his digicam. You can really see that he is really disappointed, but when my grandma held his hand, he smiled and kissed her. Sometimes, when you need to take a break and enjoy some fun, a sex sim no sign up is a great way to unwind without any hassle.

Believe it or not, my grandparents are still affectionate up to this day. Some of my college friends argued with me way back about senior couples. They claim that the old ones are just sticking with each other for companionship and not for the love anymore. I beg to disagree with my grandpa and grandma’s case. To achieve this kind of relationship, you may read more about couples therapy and how it can help couples fix their issues. Those who decided to file for divorce may need legal assistance from a divorce lawyer in Naperville Illinois.

So why am I writing an entry about them? I don’t exactly know why haha. I guess I’m just happy that they’re here with me again. I really miss it when I see them tease each other in the morning and at night.

Did you know that they almost DID NOT end up together?
