The Reunion – The Rebirth of Barkada Movies

Just finished watching the movie ‘The Reunion‘ under Star Cinema. The new barkada movie features four of ABS-CBN’s fast-rising leading men namely Xian Lim, Enrique Gil, Kean Cipriano and Enchong Dee. To spice things up, beautiful ladies Jessy Mendiola, Megan Young, Bangs Garcia and Julia montes are included in the cast. Cristine Reyes also had a short but important appearance in the film.

The Reunion – Are barkada movies finally back for good?

Before Star Cinema became the Rom-Com Hub of Philippine movies, they used to produce a number of barkada films. Even Viva and Regal have some barkada movies under their belt (Thanks to TGIS and GIMIK barkada, I guess LOL). It is nice to know that Star Cinema came up with this film and what made it more special is the fact that they featured a lot of Eraserheads songs in the movie.

Cinemalaya 2012 Awards Night Photos and Highlights

The Cinemalaya Film Festival 2012 ended last Sunday with the awards night. I can say that this year’s line-up is just as good as last year (or even better!). When you ask the moviegoers who were able to watch the films, they have different answers on which among the competing films are their top three favorites. I was able to watch only a few films this year.

Cinemalaya Film Festival 2012 Winners

Despite the unstable weather, the Cinemalaya Awards Night pushed through at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. I went straight to CCP from Trinoma with Enrico and as expected, the awards night started late. I’m just happy that in the lobby area, Eddie Garcia was there talking to the fans and entertains everyone who were asking for photo ops and autographs. Iba ka talaga, Manoy! 😀

Eddie Garcia entertains his fans at the CCP Main Lobby. Who wouldn’t love him?

Instead of 6:30, the show started at past 8PM. Ciara Sotto did a short presentation about indie film movie fans.

I will just narrate everything via photostory:

On Cinemalaya, Gala Night Tech Glitches and REquieme-rloos

For four straight years, I’ve been supporting the Cinemalaya Film Festival. I’ve read articles about it when I was still based in Pangasinan and hoped that one day, I’d be able to catch the screening at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Being in the province with only limited number of movies to choose from made it hard for me. Yes, there’s a good number of pirated DVDs being sold there, but nothing beats the experience of watching a film in a movie house. These are made for the big screen anyway.

Loy Arcenas introduces the cast and crew of REquieme!

I have to admit that it is a dream of mine that one day, I’d come up the stage and introduce my film to the moviegoers. Present my cast members, my crew and all that. I would also love to attend the awards night and if deserving, be recognized with the hard work I’ve done.

But while that dream of mine is still on-hold, I am happy that Loy Arcenas finally introduced his sophomore film entitled REquieme!. With the realistic screenplay by Rody Vera and good direction of Loy Arcenas, it is already expected that this film will be a riot!

Things to Do While Seated on the Toilet

Toilets Relief When You Need It

Toilets Relief When You Need It.

Take it Easy… Take it Easy!

Movies. Travel. Love. Life. Seven Weeks. For the past few days, I’ve been contemplating about these keywords in real life.

Take it Easy - Enjoy to the Fullest

Take it Easy – Enjoy to the Fullest

I’ve been chatting regularly with some close friends of mine whom I will call ‘Sizzy’ and ‘Badet’. Let me elaborate on what’s been bugging me lately that’s keeping me worried and anxious while in bed.

MOVIES – Last Sunday, I went to a big family reunion. I am impressed with the achievements of my relatives and it is good to know that some of them are known names in their respective fields. I saw some politicians, celebrities, chefs and a blogger named Mica (LOLWHUT). Family reunions never fail to amaze me and how I find it hard to talk and introduce myself to most of them. I am shy in real-life.

Pamper Thursday @ Pretty Tipsy Nail & Waxing Salon

Whenever I am in Dagupan City, I make it a point to visit Pretty Tipsy Nail & Waxing Salon. Nah, I am not gulping hard drinks while having my nails done (although guests can do that by special request, me thinks). I just feel that I deserve some pampering after traveling.

Lakwatseras need pampering too!

Lakwatseras need pampering too!

Right after our quick Tambobong Beach Independence Day Getaway last month, Gay and I met up at Stargreen Promenade for a girl bonding afternoon in Dagupan City’s kikay hub. With the pinkish facade and girlish interior design, customers will automatically feel extra kikay.

‘Make it Better’ by Alessandra de Rossi Official Music Video

Are you a fan of Fil-Italian actress Alessandra de Rossi? Well, I have good news for you!

The Talented Ms. De Rossi will Make it Better

Two months ago, I blogged about ADRIFT, the debut music album of Alessandra de Rossi. For the past four years, Alex became visible on teleseryes and in some independent films. On her free time, she would meet up with some friends and collaborate with them to compose an original song. She is also active in uploading some demo tracks via YouTube and updates her Tumblr account with teaser images. There’s even insight from Themarketingheaven.com on how much money 5k views can bring in on YouTube, something every creator might find interesting.

Lazy Sunday afternoon in Cebu

It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon here in Cebu City. I woke up a bit early because of the breakfast call and went back to bed after checking my online accounts. Blame it on my current accommodation for making me feel lazy today.

It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon in Cebu

I am seated right now in an outdoor coffee shop here somewhere in Ayala Cebu waiting for my friends to come. I visit Cebu at least twice or thrice a year and the funny thing there is I often go here not for the beaches and other adventurous activities outside the city proper, but because of the friends I met here. I am willing to book roundtrip tickets just to go here.

Participate in SHARP’s 100th Anniversary Share Campaign!

SHARP is definitely one of the most trusted brands in Asia as far as useful appliances and gadgets are concerned. In fact, I have a number of memories with our SHARP appliances while I was growing up.

I remember our SHARP TV Set that my parents bought when I was still in elementary. I love watching TV shows and movies as a kid yet at a young age, I was taught to balance my priorities in life. I need to finish ALL my assignments first before I am allowed to watch my favorite TV show. Our Sharp TV Set also played a major role in terms of family bonding since we would watch together in the living room on weekends with VHS rentals. My dad would prepare popcorn, buy some sodas the viola! Automatic Family Weekend!

Sharp's 100th Anniversary Campaign website https://share.sharp100years.com/

Being a student of a Special Science High School, we were required in majority of our subjects to bring scientific calculator with us. I ‘inherited’ my cousin’s Sharp Scientific Calculator after he graduated from his Commerce course. Even if I am already a ‘second-hand’ user of this device, it did help me a lot in my subjects. I even used it when I went to college!

We may not realize it, but we tend not to appreciate the things that makes our daily lives a bit more easier. Now that I do reminisce our old Sharp TV Set, VHS Player (inherited from a relative) and Scientific Calculator (inherited from my cousin), I can’t help but feel emotional.

The Need to Unplug to Reconnect

I went to Binalonan, Pangasinan last Saturday. It is a small town in the eastern part of Pangasinan. When I was a kid, I’d go there every summer vacation or on weekends. Most of my cousins in the mother side are based there and since majority were girls, we would play hide and seek and even pretend that we’re popstars or celebrities.

One of Gabriel and Josh’s Chipmunk Photobooth pics hehe 😀

I have to admit that I rarely go there now. I know that my Lolo Erning (my mom’s father) is longing to see me more often. I feel a bit guilty about this part since I travel often yet I always miss the chance to visit them.

When I arrived last Saturday, some of my relatives were excited to see me. They’ve been reading some of my blog entries and Facebook updates about the places where I’ve been. Even my pamangkins (nephews) are big boys now. How fast time flies!
