Proud to be Dagupeño: Promoting Dagupan City’s Party Scene

Juxtapose and Bangus Ink, two newly-formed groups in Dagupan City recently organized an event called ‘Proud to be Dagupeno’. It is basically a rave party and outdoor photoshoot event. The organizers composed of young and talented Dagupenos aim to promote our city’s tourism by launching cool events such as this one.

Ready?

Ready?

Like what I mentioned on my previous blog post prior to the event, I went there mainly to support my friends. I am also curious to see if they can surpass such challenge (majority of the group members are younger than me). Together with a fellow Pangasinan blogger Josh Uy, I went to Venu Bar that Saturday night to witness this event.

We arrived at the venue and I saw familiar faces. There’s Alain, who was in-charge of the tickets at the main entrance. Then I saw Stephen Munoz taking pictures and talking to some of the guests. Then there’s Renz Posedio, Karl Ballesteros and Noah Asanias busy taking pictures and fixing what needs to be fixed. Harold Ancheta, whom I’ve seen grow from Elementary to High School (and partly college) even approached me and said ‘Ate Mica, naaalala niyo pa ako?’ Of course, I do. The four of them graduated from FQDMFSSHS in 2005. I graduated in 2004.

Then some of the models were preparing at the outdoor studio part. Josh and I went straight to the bar upstairs to get a drink. Finally we were able to catch up about things related to blogging and our frustrations on how to promote Pangasinan’s tourism via blogging. We will do just that. Just wait for us 😛

We decided to go downstairs before the program started. I then saw Carla Zamora, a batch mate from high school whom I haven’t seen for six years. I’m just amazed with her revelation that Ada Lajara, one of my blogging bestie is her college classmate LOL. What a coincidence!

Then I saw CJ Cuison all dressed up as a fashionista. I really missed this guy. He was busy that night entertaining the guests that’s why I didn’t really had the chance to talk to him. I love his works, btw.

Then I saw some of the veteran photographers I truly admire in Dagupan City like Sir Willie Lomibao and Sir Mitch. The former allowed me to use one of the school’s workstation and scanner back when I was in high school 😛 The latter took my first ever ID pic. They sort of inspired me on my next film project.

Now down to the program proper! 😀 Bryan Lim officially opened the program and fire dancer Nikola Yulo performed a poi dance number. Take a look at some of the pictures I took below:

I didn’t really prepare much prior to going to the party place and I look a bit stressed. I had a photo taken at the outdoor studio still and got the chance to talk to Luffel Cornista about upcoming projects (she’s a better version of Kris Bernal, i tell you! 😛 )

After the quick photo shoot, I left the party early because I needed to home and prepare for our trip back to Manila.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone who took part in the event. Organizing something like this one is not that easy especially when you’re based in Pangasinan. I admire you guys for the courage and the dedication. I am hoping that this is a start of something new and please, don’t let the passion burn down. We need more events like this. Yes? YES! Congratulations!

For more inquiries about Juxtapose, kindly check their Facebook page #mce_temp_url#here. The group is composed of photographers, videographers, make-up artists, stylists and models. They’re open to accept projects and yes, they have a new photo studio! 😀
