Search Engine Marketing and Optimization Seminar at Urdaneta City University
Three weeks ago, Ms. Janette Toral informed me about the invitation she received from Bitstop and Urdaneta City University to be the speaker in their Search Engine Optimization and Marketing workshop on February 27. Honestly, I was happy upon hearing it and I immediately said yes when she asked me to go with her.

We left at Five Star Cubao Station at 5am of February 26. Ms. Janette was my temporary older sister that day hehe
We had our fast breakfast at Siesta, Tarlac. We slept during the duration of the trip. Ms. Janette went to Urdaneta City University and I went straight home.

Siomai Mami or Chicken Mami?
I went to Urdaneta City University for the first time that Friday. I actually like the feel of the school. It’s a clean and organized one. The venue of the talk is at the 4th flr of the New Bldg.
Ms. Janette Toral was already discussing about Blogging and SEO when I arrived. I saw Sir Gary Viray with the staff of Bitstop. I first met Sir Gary at the Digital Filipino Manila Networking Night at PAGCOR. He is from Lingayen, Pangasinan and I am proud to be his kababayan.

Mica Rodriguez and Janette Toral
The students and the guests that were present that day were very active. They asked questions and you can really see that they are eager to learn. All they need is some enlightening and inspiration. To make the morning session a bit more interesting, Ms. Janette related SEO with Courting, and she gave out copies of Blogging From Home much to the delight of the participants.

Pangasinan Bloggers Mica Rodriguez and Gary Viray
During the afternoon session, Gary Viray gave a talk on the importance of link building and off-site optimization. He also gave me the chance to talk infront and share my own thoughts about blogging and how I started.

Me giving tips to newbie bloggers
I told the students that in order to start a good blog, you have to look for a niche topic. If you are interested in technology, then blog about it. If you are interested in Pinoy Celebrities, then blog about it. If you like a specific subject, you are not “forced” to blog. Freewill na yun.
Richer Finez of Pinayspeak.com also gave his thoughts on SEO. He almost made it at the Busby SEO Test Challenge. He revealed some of his techniques. I learned a lot from him when I had a short conversation with him.
The seminar ended up with photo ops and more SEO talks. I was not aware that a lot of SEO practitioners are actually based here in Pangasinan.

SEO Pangasinan
I am planning to launch a simple seo contest for the Pangasinan-based bloggers especially the newbies. I will post the details here as soon as I finish with the rules and regulations.
LINK LOVE:
Richer Finez, Aldwin Sendaydiego, Eric Marantan, Philip Tiangson, Julius Mamaril, Julius Sison, Ricardo Padilla, Fernando Viray, Marc Espinosa and Virgilio Aquino.
This is the start of something new and something big. We will not stop there. Go Pangasinan!
