“How’s your new project?” lolo asked me when I was reviewing the first draft of my project.

“It’s fine. I’m quite happy with the first draft. I can’t wait to add the other elements to see the final output.” i replied with a happy face.

“That’s good, but can you do me a favor? I hope you’d learn to save up after you finish that project of yours. I know you worked hard for that. Producing something like that can be physically, emotionally and financially draining. I know it’s your money but – ”

(Here we go again)

“I know” i interrupted. “I know I’m spending too much on this, but this is what I really want to do and I am happy seeing my works being appreciated by others… being appreciated by you” i defended trying to hold back my tears.

He simply nodded. He went back to his room while I stayed at the dining area just staring at a black piece of paper.

———————

Walang ipon. 'Wag nang magalit, please?

While multitasking at work on a Sunday afternoon, a good friend of mine asked a magical question in our chat conversation:

“Magkano ang natira sa ****** mo?”

I simply stared at his question. I can’t think of any figure or amount. I was staring trying to recall how much money I spent last December and January. FCUK. Can’t think of a concrete answer. Can’t come up with a specific answer because I refuse to write something heartbreaking.

“WALA” i replied

He didn’t reply back (or i think he did, but he changed the topic). I remember telling him last December that I will save up so that in case i’ll be needing extra moolah to buy something important, I can get some from my savings. But no. I failed at this one.

———

SAVE UP, you adventurous log!

SAVE UP. Easy to say, hard to do. See, I am currently heartbroken. Nah, I’m not talking about boys and the Hallmark-proclaimed holiday called Valentines that drives a lot of single individuals crazy. I am heartbroken in terms of realizing my shortcomings when it comes to my finances. I am not really earning that big from my salary and blogs, but I do think I can seriously set aside some money if only I am not a compulsive drinker and eater (drinking mocha and eating donuts, i mean), if only I didn’t travel that much (Subic and Cebu FTW), if only i bought clothes and shoes instead of expensive rides (i need a closet revamp. i badly need it!) and if only i didn’t pursue with this project.

But no. Why regret? I can think more if i drink mocha and donuts. I really had fun in Subic and Cebu and surely, I will treasure more memories on my upcoming trips. I can still buy clothes and shoes if someone influences me to and hey, nothing beats seeing the characters you created come to life.

I may have spent a lot and failed to save up, but hey, i don’t regret anything at all. Being the hardworking bullhead that I am, I know that these risks that I am taking will be the key for me to achieve what I want and that is happiness – no matter how redundant that sounds. Who wouldn’t be happy exploring other places and meeting new people? Who wouldn’t smile if you have a sip of mocha and a bite of donut after a stressful day at work? And who wouldn’t feel contented upon seeing something you yourself made be appreciated by your audience?

Again, I took a risk. I’m not sure if you, the reader of this blog entry, would fully understand my situation right now. You know the feeling of doing something you truly love yet your financial worries stops you, but you didn’t give a damn about it and you just let the bull-headed persona in you fight in a right and fair way? Taking risk can be very tricky, but hey, at least I did, right? At least I made a move without feeling sorry for myself with what ifs and all that mind-bugging queries.

So there. It’s 6AM in the morning and I haven’t slept yet. Actually, I am worried about my portable HD. All my travel pictures, project52weeks videos and past documents are stored in here. The problem is, I can’t open it here in my laptop. All of sudden, it is prompting me to reformat the portable HD. I tried it in my office computer as well, but I encountered the same problem! What should I do now? I don’t want to press the ‘format’ button as that means all of my precious files are deleted permanently! I will risk in any field, except for this portable HD. I need some help pft.

I’ll end this entry now. I just can’t stop writing LOL. Happy Valentines LOL

All photos taken from LX3 Moments , the project I haven’t updated for days T_T

It’s FEB-ibig month. What does that mean? It is the month wherein lovers get the chance to show how they love their current partner and be ‘extra’ romantic and expressive even just for a day. It is also a day wherein we let our female friends feel extra special.

Most girls do really appreciate it whenever someone gives them a rose for some reason. I remember my dad sending flowers to my mom, my grandmother and even to his one and only daughter on Valentines Day with flowers straight from Baguio City (he used to work there). To some people, buying flowers in the market or a flower shop can be very stressful (blame the traffic!) or it can also be time-consuming for the busy yuppies.

I recently discovered Island Rose, a website that Deliver Flowers to the Philippines. Yes, you can easily send these fresh flowers to the Philippines in just a few clicks in their website!

My officemate just tried it out yesterday and he managed to have the flowers delivered to Paranaque even if he is in Quezon City working with the paper’s layout. As a newbie in sending goods like these, he finds the site user-friendly and easy to navigate. The selection of Philippine Flowers is also impressive. Not only that, they also have other items such as necklace, chocolates, teddy bears and more to spice up things a bit

If you want to know more, just go straight to the website of Island Rose. Better take advantage as they offer 10% discount whenever you purchase using the discount coupon code VDAY022010. This discount code is valid until February 20.

The last Saturday of January was pretty tiring yet fulfilling day on my part. Let’s just say that I am working on a very serious project that day. My team and I had to go to San Juan, then to Makati then back to San Juan again. The traffic jam added to the stress and worries of each and every one of us. I’m just lucky that all the crew members were dedicated to their temporary roles that day.

Tired but Happy at Jupiter Suites Makati

At around 4pm, we found ourselves working at Jupiter Suites Makati. It is one of the most-recommended budget hotels in Makati by the bloggers. It is located at the corner of Makati Avenue and Jupiter Suites. We checked the rates of Jupiter Suites and it really suits those who wants to go and stay in Makati without spending too much money.

Jupiter Suites - Budget Hotel in Makati

Sir Henry of Jupiter Suites Makati welcomed us with a smiling face =)

Public transportation is also available 24/7. It is also accessible since there’s a lot of food establishments around (BBQ Chicken, KFC, Mcdo, Mang Inasal etc.) and there’s a good parking space too. Wait, did I mention that the staff of the hotel were very accommodating? (Shoutouts to Sir Henry! )

Jupiter Suites Makati Family Suite

Clean Restroom at Jupiter Suites

We were lucky enough to work at one of the spacious rooms of the hotel. We used the Family Suite and wow, this room is really big! There’s a TV Set, a mini bar, a mini kitchen, aircon, lamps and a very clean restroom. It is really perfect for family, barkada or corporate gatherings. There’s unlimited free wifi access (that’s why Hannah was able to plurk about our project hihi) and they also serve complimentary buffet breakfast for their clients. Nice, right?

Oh no. Judd wants to stay and sleep!

The crew enjoyed the short stay at Jupiter Suites Makati. We are seriously thinking of going back, checking-in and simply have fun overnight. Bonding with your closest friends in a hotel room where you can do whatever you want is not a bad idea especially if someone won in a contest, leaving the country for greener pastures or before one gets married hehe

Staying Positive in a Human Couch

Checking-in a hotel for some ‘me’ time is recommended too especially if you want disconnect yourself from the world for a day and just relax on your own. For more details, you can call Jupiter Suites at Tel. No. (632) 890-5044 to 50 or visit their Official website at http://www.jupitersuites.com.ph

If you’re wondering on what project were we working on at a hotel room, hmmm… we better not spill any details now. All I am hoping and praying for is that this project will have a POSITIVE outcome. Make me happy

Special Shoutouts: Ada, Alan, Hannah, Judd, Carlos, Kring, Tita Janette, Jenny Villarama, Krispy Kreme Greenhills and Jupiter Suites

Way back in high school, my classmates and I almost made it to the Lopez Museum as a part of the educational field trip. Too bad it was axed out from the itinerary the last minute due to some undisclosed reasons. I remember one of my classmates got really depressed since he’s into paintings, arts and the works.

Unfolding Half a Century of Lopez Memorial Museum and Library

I passed through the Lopez Link site awhile ago and I found out that the team is gearing up for a very special project as Lopez Museum celebrates 50th anniversary on February 18. It is a good opportunity for Museum lovers to take advantage of this celebration as a lot of programs are in-stored to the delight of the visitors.

One of the most-anticipated event in the said celebration is the Unfolding book launch and opening of Threads exhibit at Rockwell Tent. A new coffee table book called Unfolding Half a Century: The Lopez Memorial Museum will be launched that night and on the same night, the cutting-edge exhibit Threads: The Museum as Site for the Weaving of Tales will also take place.

Truly, this is a MUST SEE event for those who are in-love with arts and history. Know more details at Lopez Museum and Library Facebook page

So where was I last Wednesday afternoon? Well, I went to work at 1:30PM and left after two hours. I found myself together with Judd, Carlos, Patty and Maki at Eastwood Mall. Why? Errr… we went there to catch the press conference of Musicfest 2010 featuring international acts like Boyce Avenue, Jabbawokeez and Kris Allen! Yes, these three artists are performing Live in Cebu today (February 5) and in Manila tomorrow (February 6).

Musicfest 2010 Manila Presscon Hosts Georgina Wilson and Mo Twister

The said press conference was hosted by DJ Mo Twister (who is now an active blogger) and Channel V’s Celebrity VJ of the Month Georgina Wilson, who is undeniably hot with her red dress.

Moving on with the boys…

The Boys of Boyce Avenue

I’m quite sure YouTube lovers have heard of Boyce Avenue. They began posting some of their revivals in the video site years ago and eventually earned millions of fans from different parts of the world. Things were never the same for them since then as they rose to fame in an instant. The group is composed of the Alejandro Brothers named Alejandro, Fabian and Daniel. The group went here in the Philippines sometime last year, and they expressed how happy they were with the reception of the Filipino fans during their first gig in the Philippines.

Jabbawokeez staying in the Philippines for good? SIKRET!

Jabbawokeez were called next. They’re pretty hot in the country these days because they were recently introduced as one of the newest Kapamilya in ASAP XV. The dance group, who won in the talent show America’s Best Dance Crew. Primarily, the group is in-demand these days because of their killer dance move (yah know!?!) and yeah, the group is dominated by Filipino members! Pinoy Pride FTW!

American Idol Season 8's Kris Allen answering album-related questions

The last performer introduced to the press earned most of the questions and shoutouts from the fans. He’s no other than American Idol Season 8’s Kris Allen! We did even saw a group of girls raising a fansign and even the reporters who asked questions to him can’t help but express their admiration. He is good-looking, but sorry girls, he’s married

So there. The press conference was simple and not as stressful compared to the others I’ve been too. Thumbs up to Channel V, Fearless Production and PLDT MyDSL Watchpad for handling the presscon well. I witnessed the David Cook vs. David Archuleta concert last year and it turned out well. I have a feeling this one’s going to be much, much better!

Catch Musicfest 2010 later, February 5, 2010 at the SM City Cebu North Parking 8pm and February 6, 2010 at McKinley Hill Open Grounds 8pm.
