Siderodromophobia

October 31 MRT Santolan-Annapolis Station

October 31 MRT Santolan-Annapolis Station

The phobia related to the extreme fear of trains, railroads and travel by rail is Siderodromophobia.

Krrunch Time in Uniquely Singapore with Nuffnang!

It’s been almost a week since I and the rest of the Nuffnang PH bloggers left the country for Singapore to attend the first-ever Nuffnang Blog Awards. It was a very memorable and extraordinary experience for all of us and to be honest, I am still overwhelmed with the whole experience.

I never taught that this actually happened. I just feel so blessed that I was able to spend the weekend at Singapore with free airfare, accommodation and tour! Spending more quality with your friends in a foreign land and making friends with other people made it extra special.

Anyway, I have too many things in mind to blog about in relation to this trip. I am still stunned everytime a co-blogger tags our photos together. I want to write a blog entry about our day to day experience, but its not enough so for now, I’ll be showing you a short preview through photos grabbed from my marvelous and gorgeous photographer friends:

Farewell to you, Geocities

Ten years ago, my cousin opened my eyes in the world of internet. I remember having SpiceGirls.com as the first website that I ever went to. Later on, I learned that I can search for pictures and information via search engines like Yahoo, MSN, Altavista among others. I am truly amazed on how a scanner works. I even compared it into a xerox machine only that the printout will be in the monitor. As a big fan of the Spice Girls, I wanted to make my own fansite for them.

Starting today, Geocities is already a part of web history

The problem is, I don’t have enough money for the hosting and I am completely clueless on how to buy domains and how to find a good host. Thank God there were free webhosting places around like AngelFire and Tripod. What annoyed me was the pop-up ads. I needed to look for a better host and tenen… GEOCITIES came in the picture!

Before I Say Hello to Singapore…

It’s 2:05 in the morning (though my blog time stamp is not set well :| ) and I haven’t slept yet. I tried to get at least an hour of sleep, but I really can’t. I tried to pack all the things that I’ll be needing for the trip, but I kept on going back to the monitor.

Lolo: Are you the one and only culprit of the Pringles in the redbox crime?! Mica: I'm guilty. Peace Grandpa :D

Lolo: Where are you going? Mica: I'm going to Singapore, Lah!

I am used to last minute packing when I travel, but I know that this specific trip is extra special and somewhat a first for me. Actually, I still can’t believe up to this second that I’m about to go to Singapore to attend the Nuffnang Blog Awards.

For quite sometime, my grandparents and some of my nyok friends were forcing me to renew my passport, which expired last March 1999 (more than ten years ago!). The only country I went to is Hongkong in 1994 and I was just six or seven years old that time. I remember riding the Cathay Pacific plane and dreamt of having my own hotel exclusive for kids and an airline wherein the pilot and the stewardess are all kids. Ok, that’s a big headache if it came true.

Now I am 22 and just twelve hours ago, I claimed my renewed passport at the DFA office. I am quite amused with the fast service of DFA. Though I look terribly sleepy in my passport photo, I am more than happy to finally have it in my hands.

The First PBA ’09 Visayas Awards Night

My third time in Cebu is very memorable and should I say ‘historical’ because I witnessed the first ever Philippine Blog Awards ’09 Visayas Leg last October 19 at Ayala City Sports, Cebu City. The event was well-attended by Cebu-based bloggers, PBA Organizers, volunteers, press and media from the Queen City of the South.

PBA '09 Visayas Leg - Major Success!

Ada and I booked a flight to Cebu last month via Zestair (and I regret my choice of airline LOL). We originally wanted to go to Cebu then take an hour ride to Bohol for Saturday and go back to the City by Sunday morning to attend the awards night at the evening. Plans changed due to the weather reports and lack of funds :P

Our first day in Cebu with some of our Manila blogger friends is made of pure win. I got the chance to patch up with Pangga couple Hana and Markku, who were my former workmates (that deserves another blog entry hehe). We got the chance to gallivant around the city and visit Talisay, Kuya Markku’s hometown.

Let’s go back to the awards night :P After eating our lunch at Mooon Cafe, Ada, Winston, Van and I went to the venue to simply check the place. We went back to our hotel room at Sampaguita Suites to sleep (yes, sleeping in Cebu is a great experience! haha). We dressed up at around 5pm and went straight to Ayala City Sports for the awards night.
